Poem of the Day - 2/21/07
Revelation
We make ourselves a place apart
Behind light words that tease and flout,
But oh, the agitated heart
Till someone really find us out.
’Tis pity if the case require
(Or so we say) that in the end
We speak the literal to inspire
The understanding of a friend.
But so with all, from babes that play
At hide-and-seek to God afar,
So all who hide too well away
Must speak and tell us where they are.
-Robert Frost (1874–1963)
A shout out to lurkers! :O
Speak, and tell us who you are!

Not a lurker here, but thanks blueneck for the “call out” to all our visitors.
I just wanted to drop in and tell you all that I got a call from scribe last night. She’s been absent a couple of days because her ‘puter is down. She had a few choice words for comcast that I’ll let her share when she gets back - should be today or tomorrow.

Morning all! Been down myself with migraine sickness. Ugh! All better now though. Nice to see the spike in traffic.
I was wondering if this blog has a poll capability? Maybe run a quick survey with just what people want from this blog? Politics, friendship, community, issues of the day, stopping the war, impeachment? Just a thought. Then maybe we could get a sense for writing more diaries.
I also want to put out there that I am willing to kick in some monies to get a little better format going. What do you all think?

hey gang!!
That was a fantastic poem! Funny enough, when I read it, I wasn’t thinking so much about all the lurkers and mysterios hanging around, but of a couple of my closest friends who seem to fit that description. As someone who spends more time reading source code than poetry, I’m really digging this new theme, so thanks again for sharing and inspiring.
Leezy, I like the idea of having polls. I’ll look into that as soon as I get some free time to devote to site maintenance stuff… For myself, finding time is the key issue right now, more so than money, although it warms my heart to know you’re dedicated enough to offer. The new site is looking pretty good, if I may say so myself. Just waiting for the right time when we can switch over with minimal disruption. With the new site, there will be threaded comments, the sidebar (recent posts/comments) will be a lot better organized, we’ll have a little mini-forum area (for stuff like cafe’s, welcome wagons, or whatever folks see fit to use it for), and a lot more control over how to change things however we’d like. One thing I am personally putting high on my priority list is a way to give the person posting a new story the opportunity to decide whether it should go on the front page, or only under the categories it’s assigned to. …. But I could go on and on. Leezy, if you’re willing to help provide ideas about how to make the site work better, I’m all ears! I think we’ll need to set up a mailing list or something soon, so that we don’t keep hijacking poetry threads, etc. with this kind of discussion. Anyway, I’ll stop myself now…. more soon!

Hi there CT! Sounds as if it is coming along just fine. In the meantime I feel we have all adjusted quite nicely to this forum.
As far as ideas, no tech stuff from this gal kiddo. I guess what I am looking to find out is this going to be a political leaning blog or a general place to hang out with the “others”? LOL. No seriously. I think we have so many wonderful things to discuss and am so grateful to be included with such brilliant folks here. I am serious too about all being “owners” of our site so we are not beholding to the site owner or at his mercy. Frankly, I have had enough of that crap. Later!

Hi all, I am back from “No Net Land”. It was awful. I was running around saying WTF and LOL and nobody around here knew what I was talking about. I felt cut OFF from the world world, having only the TV for news, and I missed you guys!
As for Comcast, well, to make it short, they’re gonna PAY ME for all of this mess, or a) I contact the Better Business Bureau and B) write a Letter To The Editor, just for starters. If they won’t negotiate with me even knowing that, I’ll take them to small claims court. Enough is freakin enough! Now to go get caught up.
