A Quick Update from Janet

UPDATE on the UPDATE [4:30 CST]: Janet just called again — she says there are about 4000 people at the rally. She sounded so damned pumped, I just wanted to jump through the phone and hug her! 😉

She met Sean Penn — he came and talked with about 30 of them on the overpass. She said she didn’t even realize it was him until, she turned around and he was standing right behind her. As she got off the phone (battery running out), Col. Ann Wright was about to speak — if you’ve never heard her, she is one amazing lady — I met her in Crawford in ’05.  She siad that there were about 10 counter-protesters there, calling everyone traitors, but that they were quite laughable in their way. Anyway, that’s the latest from Janet, she’s fine and will be heading home in about 2 hours!

Hi Again All — Just wanted to pass on some info. from Janet who is, as most of you know standing with supporters of Lt. Watada as his trial gets underway today. She arrived safely, got her car parked in a legal place and was catching a shuttle bus to the overpass as we spoke.

She said there were many more people there than she has seen before, and that a parking lot that was used last time was *full* of news vans, dishes, and various and sundry news-critters.

She wishes you all well and will update us when she gets back home (she’s headed back this evening).

  1. SOOOO good to hear she’s doing alright and that the press is there to cover things. That should give her much more safety.

Thanks for the update Bri, glad you’re in contact with her today.
